Marnelius Alexander, aged 23, passed away late on the night of April 15, 2026, following a tragic incident at a gas station along Western Avenue in Peoria.
Authorities responded just before 11 p.m. after receiving an alert of gunfire in the 1000 block of Western Avenue, where they found Alexander with a critical chest injury.
Emergency responders immediately attempted life-saving measures, but Alexander was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 11:45 p.m., according to the Peoria County Coroner.
Another individual, a 19-year-old, also sustained injuries during the incident and received hospital care, with reports indicating the condition was not life-threatening.
